"My artworks are visual rebranding of Africans in the way I want them to be perceived. I recreate my experience and that of the people around me the way I want the viewer to see them. The game of chess is a perfect metaphor for life because it denotes the individuality and significance of each person, exactly like every chess piece. Chess pieces and human figures come together in my paintings, which I use to engage the viewer and offer optimism in a compelling way."
